About the Artist
Jackie and I moved to Crested Butte in 1973. We originally came for the skiing, but stayed for the wonderful lifestyle we found in this mountain paradise.
Jackie became a successful real estate broker and works hard at it to this day (firstname.lastname@example.org). In so many ways I owe my success in the art business to her.
I practiced Optometry until 1996. Coming home from work one day, I realized I was making more money doing something I absolutely loved (oil painting) than something I could do without (eye exams)... I haven't looked back!
I was essentially self-taught until a few years ago when I began mentoring under renowned Colorado landscape painter, Jay Moore. His teaching has had a huge impact on the part of my art I love the most- the landscape. I spend most of my free time outdoors, so it's a perfect fit.
A typical day might start with an early morning hike with our two Westies, Ms. T and Chauka. In fact, they insist on it. This time is spent looking for new ideas (and maybe even a little fishing). Then, in the afternoon, it's back to the studio to begin a new painting. I know this sounds like a horribly grueling way to spend a day, but I'm used to it.
Thanks so much for visiting my website.
